Is it necessary to have a boarding pass to travel? How long in advance must it be collected?

Yes, it is necessary to have a boarding pass for each of the passengers and vehicles travelling on the vessel. The boarding pass will be issued to you at Nautas's counters upon presentation of your ticket or at the automatic check-in booths by entering your ticket reference number. The time limit prior to boarding is 30 minutes for passengers and 60 minutes for vehicles. Remember that it is important to observe these time limits in order to avoid any problems when boarding. After this time, Nautas will not be able to guarantee successful boarding of the vessel. Furthermore we would like to inform you that you can collect your boarding pass in advance, and that you can collect departure and return boarding passes simultaneously.

For more information visit the section Boarding rules

Are the seats numbered? Are the seats comfortable?

The seats are not numbered, but we guarantee that you will find a place in the passenger lounges. Passenger lounges are divided into two classes: Neptune and Sirena. Both classes are equipped with spacious and ergonomic reclining seats, with folding trays and pockets for personal objects.

Is it necessary to check in luggage?

No, suitcases and hand luggage do not need to be checked in. You must take it yourself to the vessel, where you can place it in the racks of the passenger lounges. These will remain open during the entire crossing.

Can pets travel?

No, on the routes operated by the company Nautas between Tangier and Algeciras it is not allowed to transport any kind of animal.

Can a vehicle´s size impact in some way?

Yes, in some cases. Remember that there are two tariffs for cars, depending on the height of the vehicle: T1 if its height is below 2 meters, and T2 for those higher than 2 meters. If you add a luggage rack to your vehicle it´s possible that the final height of the vehicle changes, and therefore the applicable tariff will also change. Please take this into account when booking the ticket.

Is it allowed to smoke in the vessels?

In accordance with state law, it is forbidden to smoke inside the vessels and the company installations on-shore. Nautas is grateful to passengers for complying with these regulations.

Is it possible to make a call with a cell phone during the crossing?

Yes, because calls made with a cell phone do not interfere with the navigation equipment. In addition, during most of the routes there is sufficient network coverage to make a telephone call.

Can I take a walk on the decks during the trip?

In fast ferries (i.e. high-speed ships), for security reasons, you will only be able to take a walk on the deck while the vessel is moored at port.

Which safety features do the vessels have?

The safety of our passengers is our priority and, therefore, we inform them in detail about the safety features and procedures. In our vessels you will find information boards with indications on where to find emergency exits, meeting points, boats, life jackets, etc. In addition, remember that it is important to watch the videos shown at the beginning of each trip about what to do in case of emergency. Please do not misuse the safety measures; they can save your life!

If you want more information, you can find a detailed description about the safety features of fast ferries in the Safety on board

With which currency can I pay for the ticket?

In the offices of Nautas in Algeciras you can pay in Euros, while in the offices of Nautas in Tangier you can pay in either Euros or dirhams.
